F.A.Q.

Finally, I got a digital camera. Finally, some nice weather. The new camera makes it look like a completely different car. Yup - it's really this bright!

The required after-wash shot.

I have a funny story about the 2 shots below. One evening I realized that the driver's side air intake sticks out from the body about 1/2 inch. Hmmm. The passenger side is flush. Maybe the vent wasn't seated correctly, so I push on the vent, to try to get it to snap in. (As if Porsche would make the vent snap into place...) Wouldn't budge. Now I'm really annoyed. The car's not a month old, and some body work is messed up. I guess I'll take it back to the dealer...

Well, maybe I'll poke around the internet to see if anyone else has had the problem. Luckily, I knew about the Boxster Ring, and discovered Whiplash's Porsche Boxster Site (it's not there any more). He had a great description of the situation I discovered. Apparently, on earlier Boxster years, the the driver's side intake was taking in rain water at high speed. So Porsche added the lip to keep water out. The passenger side is only an air vent, so they didn't bother to add the lip. Cool.

This is the driver's side air intake. See the lip?

Here's the passenger side air vent. No lip.
