June 7 - 9, 2001This was my first year at BRBS. It will not be my last. I have yet to find an equal collection of
awesome cars, people, or roads. Three days in Blowing Rock, NC, driving the twisties of the
Blue Ridge
Parkway. This is the largest gathering of Boxsters in the country. It's obvious
why.
Day 1, "The Lineup"The first event was The Lineup, where everyone shows off their
pride and joy, with particular attention to modifications, tweaks, and
hacks. I got a lot of questions about my hand-painted wheel crests and brake calipers, and
self-installed rear speaker kit. Everyone loved my Radio-Controlled Boxster, as well.

More Boxsters, Row 3. |

Even more, Row 4. |

Hand-painted steering wheel crest. Not bad! I haven't found to nerve to try it yet... |

These Boxsters are a bit more economical! |

Here's a 996 headlight in the Boxster. No amber lenses. |

I really like the look - even better on Guards Red! This may be my next project. |

My RC Boxster on my Y2K 986. A lot of people took this same picture. |
Day 1, The Open RoadAfter the lineup, we had the rest of the day to drive through
the mountains. I met Dan Grieco and Skip Cusack during the Lineup, and we explored the Parkway.

Dan took this picture of me. |

Taking a break, with Dan, Skip, Jay, and others. |
Day 1, Steaks at the SagebrushImagine a caravan of 80+ Boxsters winding through
the streets, and pulling into a restaurant parking lot.

Welcome, indeed! That's a lotta Boxsta! |

...and even more on the side! |
Day 2, Grandfather Mountain Group PhotoSome people arrived at Grandfather
Mountain (the highest point on the Parkway) at dawn, for some prime picture-taking light
conditions. I'm not that dedicated! I arrived with everyone else for the group photo shoot.
There were plenty of embarrassed Boxster owners on the way up, as they cooked their clutches
(you could smell it), and stalled their engines. I guess they don't have mountains in Florida,
and such! I had no trouble, of course! Dan was one of the unfortunate stallers - it's OK, man...
I understand!

I pulled into Row 3, which is on the second level. Still some pretty loose ranks down
there! |

Row 4 is full, and Row 5 is coming in. |

This is almost everyone, nice and tight! I'm the right-most Guards Red in Row 3 |

I like this shot of the second level, Rows 3-5. |

Row 6 snaked up the mountain. |

This is Bob C.'s final picture of the
group. That's 76 visible Boxsters. |
Day 2, Grandfather MountainWe pretty much took over the mountain for the rest of
the morning, and everyone took tons of pictures. Here are my best.

Porsche only parking. Well, mostly. |

Here's the view from the edge. Awesome. |

I thought this was a great picture spot, under this overhang. |

That's Swinging Bridge (it's a mile up), and the peak of the mountain in the background. |

And again with me. Gottfried took this one for me. |

Then, the fog started rolling in. |
|

One mile up. |
|
Day 3, FarewellWhat an awesome couple of days! This will definitely be a yearly
event for me!

My friend Dan. We caravanned back to the DC area. |

Saw this sign on the way back. Isn't the "Bat Cave" supposed to be secret?? |
